Discovery Education

The discovery education website is more helpful and easier to find educational videos for the classroom. However TeacherTube is free so even if it is not directly related to the SOL's it still gets the point across to the children/students.

Both of these videos apply to the geometry section of the kindergarten sol's. Teacher Tube is a great site for teachers. YouTube cannot be accessed by most school computers which therefor cannot be shown to students. When videos are needed to be shown to emphasize certain subject areas since YouTube is not able to be used on school computers, TeacherTube is a wonderful site to use instead. What is also interesting about TeacherTube is that teachers actually post these videos.

Smart board

The smart board seems to be very helpful in the classroom. Students can be more involved and interactive. They can solve problems that the teacher puts up and save their work easily. It can be hard to get used to but once a person gets the hang of it, it is a positive improvement in the classroom.

Google custom search

Flickr

Flickr is actually a pretty cool site. It is easier than the other sites to figure out and more interesting because of all the pictures. The picture in this post is from one year ago at the beach with the family and pets. In the middle are the parents and the sister on the outside with the two greyhounds.

First Day learning

Coming into this class thinking it would be easy and fun is not truely the case. It takes a lot of time to figure out how everything works especially new things on the internet. All the different pages to keep up with and user names and passwords to remember can be very difficult. However it is very interesting and will be helpful in the future.
